September 2005

Here the new bike, a BMW, especially for our world tour -  isn't it nice...

BMW F 650 GS Dakar

0 Km - registration date 11/03

with ABS and heated grips

February 2006 - The second bike!

After a long discussion and a lot of pros and cons I decided to buy the same bike and not the KTM 640 Adventure - so I only have to think about spare parts and tools for one model

 BMW F 650 GS Dakar

2800 Km - registration date 09/03

with ABS and heated grips

March 2006 - beginning of modifications

Saturday March 11th  mounting the centre stand

and carrier and panniers

First test mounting of the tanks of course without fuel. I do it completely after painting the tanks

taking off the tail

I wanted to show the fitting completely, but I was working so hard so I forgot to take the pictures

And now - finished

as Anja wanted to have it

Fork springs and shock absorber with hydraulic preload adjustment sponsored by Wilbers GmbH

Lowering ride height (Anja) 2cm

Tool box under engine guard

Thanks to Ela's dad and of course Jörg for the wonderful boxes

Side stand lengthened

Thanks to Uli who has lengthened the sidestands - so the bikes can stand safely even completely packed

Mudguard (Touratech)

I don't want to have dirty feet

Ralley footpegs (Touratech) and collapsible gear shifter (Touratech)

More space for your feet, especially with the bigger tank and of course, I hope the shifter won't break

Raisers 3cm (Touratech)

More comfortable and handlebar and enough space between tank and handlebar

Chain guard (Touratech)

Just for my eye  - the original one is really ugly

Luggage rack (Touratech)

Mounting any luggage on the original one is nearly impossible

Tank bag (Touratech)

After our last trip Anja wasn't very happy with it.. The space between steering head and  triple tree is very  narrow and so it is tricky to mount the hooks and you can't use the map case on its own . But you needn't fold the maps because it's really big (DIN 4).

Hattech slip on

You don't get unleaded fuel everywhere, what a wonderful excuse for a nice sound

Chain oiling system (CLS)

electronical chain lube system, so I needn't care about our chains every day.

 4 bags additional to panniers

Tool box rear
